Decades of segregation, discrimination and lack of access have led to an alarming disparity: Black children today drown in swimming pools at a rate far higher than that of white children, studies have shown. This lesson has students examine historical examples of segregation and contemporary responses related to Black access to swimming pools. Register for free access.

On Aug. 27, join Retro Report and The New York Historical for the screening of a new short film about the Children’s Discovery Center, a daycare center in the World Trade Center complex.
